FOSTERING POSITIVE OUTCOMES AND
UPLIFTING THOSE IN NEED
Hilliard Crews and his wife, Harriett, started the Crews Family Foundation to provide vital financial resources to help make a positive impact in our community. With a commitment to philanthropy, the foundation seeks to address pressing needs and contribute to the betterment of the community. Through strategic allocation of resources, we aim to support initiatives that create lasting and meaningful change. Our focus is on fostering positive outcomes and uplifting those in need, embodying a spirit of generosity and compassion.
The Crews Family Foundation stands as a beacon of support, working tirelessly to make a difference and enhance the well-being of our community. We have been involved and supported a variety of organizations. Listed below are some organizations we have supported.
FOSTERING POSITIVE OUTCOMES AND UPLIFTING THOSE IN NEED
University of Memphis
At the University of Memphis, we have been honored to invest in the Crews Center for Entrepreneurship, the Crews School of Accounting and most recently the new Leftwich Tennis Center.
Teach for America
We are proud to support the efforts of Teach for America where they strive to guarantee that the children in our communities are equipped with a solid foundation, enabling them to learn, lead, thrive, and ultimately contribute to shaping a brighter future for themselves and society as a whole. This collective commitment underscores our belief in the transformative power of education and the profound impact it can have on individuals and communities alike. In this harmonious collaboration, we envision a world where the shared responsibility for education becomes a cornerstone for progress and the cultivation of a better, more inclusive future for everyone.
Agape
We help to contribute to Agape’s mission to be a Christ-centered ministry dedicated to helping to create healthy homes, thriving communities, and right relationships for children and families. Agape Child & Family Services will walk alongside children, families, and communities sharing God’s love in action. With a spirit of excellence, humility, and grace, we will connect people to God’s mission by:
-
Elevating voice and honoring choice for children and families to assist them in achieving the life they desire.
-
Creating and providing services that intentionally strengthen the whole family to a life that’s thriving.
-
Providing hope
-
Encouraging right relationships in the faith communities across racial, economic, and denominational barriers.
-
Identifying and changing systems in an effort to break cycles of poverty, inequity, and injustice.
Church Health Center
As a faith-based health care not-for-profit, Church Health believes in caring for one another as we’d all like to be cared for. That’s why they commit every day to making the highest quality health care accessible to more Memphians—especially those facing social and economic challenges—so we can all live our lives with dignity, vitality, and joy. We are proud to help provide support for the Church Health Center.
Memphis Teacher Residency
The Crews Family Foundation has provided support to Memphis Teacher Residency (MTR), a faith-based, non-profit organization founded in 2009 to recruit, train, and support effective teachers in a Christian context. Residents are college graduates invited to train with a mentor teacher, receive coaching, and participate in a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) coursework through Christian Brothers University (tuition provided). Upon graduating from the program, residents agree to teach in Memphis under-resourced schools for three additional years.
Mid-South Food Bank
The Mid-South Food Bank serves the Mid-South community by helping those facing food insecurity every day. Across 31 counties, the Mid-South Food Bank is committed to delivering nutritious and wholesome food to local agencies and distribution sites. Their mission is to eliminate hunger in the region, and they have been a leading food distributor in Memphis, Tennessee. We are proud to help support their efforts.
MIFA
MIFA was founded in 1968. Today, they serve more than 40,000 people annually. MIFA partners with corporations, foundations, congregations and faith groups, donors, and volunteers to support our programs for seniors and families. Their vision is uniting the community through service. Their mission is supporting the independence of vulnerable seniors and families in crisis through high-impact programs.
United Way
United Way of the Mid-South’s mission is to improve the quality of life for mid-southerners by mobilizing and aligning community resources to address priority issues. The organization’s top priority is addressing Mid-South poverty. United Way’s work in education, financial stability and health brings about positive changes on local poverty and we align our funding, initiatives, partnerships, and programs in ways that help more people escape poverty.
Youth Villages
Youth Villages is a private nonprofit organization dedicated to helping emotionally and behaviorally troubled children and their families live successfully.
Youth Villages provides help for children and young people across the United States who face a wide range of emotional, mental and behavioral problems. Their team works to find solutions using proven treatment models that strengthen the child’s family and support systems and dramatically improve their long-term success. Youth Villages directly helps tens of thousands of young people and their families every year and increases our impact through partnerships and advocacy.
Slingshot Memphis
Slingshot Memphis is a poverty-fighting center of influence that's igniting a movement to revolutionize the way we fight poverty. Slingshot has addressed this by developing a new, standardized methodology to measure poverty-fighting effectiveness. By providing previously unavailable insights about poverty-fighting outcomes, they empower decision makers to allocate financial and other resources toward solutions that produce effective outcomes for those experiencing poverty. To turn their mission into reality, they work with poverty-fighting organizations to study their effectiveness, identify opportunities to enhance their outcomes, and invest directly to amplify high-impact programs and services.
